North Sea Jazz 2027: where to stay in Rotterdam for festival weekend

For three days every July, Rotterdam Ahoy becomes the home of one of the world's best-known music festivals. NN North Sea Jazz returns on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July 2027, with jazz, R&B, funk, blues and soul across the venue's halls (MOJO). The music starts before the festival does. In the weeks leading up to North Sea Jazz, North Sea Round Town, the official fringe festival, brings concerts to stages, squares and unexpected places all over Rotterdam (North Sea Round Town). Book early

North Sea Jazz draws visitors from the Netherlands and abroad, and many of them book their accommodation as soon as the dates are known. Festival weekend is in July, but the best-located apartments for that weekend can go months in advance. Book once you know your plans, especially if you are travelling as a group and need two or three bedrooms.

How to get to Rotterdam Ahoy

Ahoy is a five-minute walk from Zuidplein metro and bus station (Ahoy). Metro lines D and E both run to Zuidplein from Rotterdam Centraal, through the city centre and the Kop van Zuid (metro lines). According to the RET line D timetable, the ride to Zuidplein takes:

Add the walk to the station at your end. From Brede Hilledijk, the whole trip to Ahoy takes roughly a quarter of an hour.

Getting home after the last concert

Festival nights run late. Metro trains run less often in the late evening than in the daytime, and Ahoy itself advises visitors to evening events to plan their trip home carefully. Check the last metro times in the RET or 9292 journey planner before you go. This is one more reason to stay close by: from Brede Hilledijk, Ahoy is just four metro minutes from Rijnhaven.

Coming from abroad? Ahoy notes that the Intercity Direct from Schiphol Airport to Rotterdam Centraal takes about 25 minutes, and from Rotterdam Centraal you reach Ahoy in about 10 minutes.
