June 2027 is a big month for medical science in Rotterdam. Three major international congresses take place at Rotterdam Ahoy within three weeks of each other: nephrology, human genetics and transfusion medicine. If you are attending one of them, presenting, exhibiting or sending a team, this guide covers the dates, how to get to Ahoy, and how a furnished apartment can make a congress week easier.
The June 2027 congress calendar
| Congress | Dates | Organiser source |

64th ERA Congress: 3–6 June 2027
The ERA Congress takes place both live in Rotterdam and virtually. According to ERA, registration opens on 3 February 2027, and the CME and hands-on courses are held on the first day, Thursday 3 June. Abstract submission opens on 16 November 2026.
ESHG 2027: 12–15 June 2027
The European Society of Human Genetics plans a hybrid conference, with in-person and online participation. Registration opens in February 2027, and only full-conference registration is possible; there are no day tickets. Several pre-conference courses run on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 June and need a separate registration. If you join one of those, you will arrive in Rotterdam a few days before the main programme.
ISBT Rotterdam 2027: 19–23 June 2027
ISBT's important dates are: abstract submission opens on 10 November 2026, registration opens on 1 December 2026, and the abstract deadline is 16 February 2027.
Planning a congress stay
A congress stay is rarely just the congress days. You might arrive a day early to collect your badge, join a pre-congress course, or stay on for meetings. Some delegates attend two of these congresses, and the ESHG and ISBT dates are only a few days apart. That quickly adds up to a week or more in Rotterdam.
A few things that help:
- Book early. With three large congresses in one month, demand for accommodation in Rotterdam is likely to be high throughout June.
- Think in weeks, not nights. If you stay seven nights or longer, weekly cleaning is included in your stay at Alphabet Apartments. For longer stays we also offer a long-stay discount; ask our team about the terms for your dates.
- Work where you stay. Every apartment has fast private Wi-Fi and a living area, so you can prepare your presentation or join a call without a hotel lobby.
- Arrive on your own schedule. Our apartments use digital locks, so you do not need a key handover. Standard check-in is at 16:00, and when you book directly on our website, early check-in at 14:00 is free, subject to availability.
Getting to Rotterdam Ahoy
Ahoy is a five-minute walk from Zuidplein metro and bus station (Ahoy). Metro lines D and E both run to Zuidplein through the city centre and the Kop van Zuid (metro lines). According to the RET line D timetable, with trains every 10 minutes during the day, the ride to Zuidplein takes:
- about 4 minutes from Rijnhaven, a few minutes' walk from our Brede Hilledijk apartments (about 2.2 km from Ahoy in a straight line);
- about 5 minutes from Wilhelminaplein on the Kop van Zuid, a useful stop if you stay at our Prins Hendrikkade apartments on the Noordereiland (about 3.7 km from Ahoy; check the best route to the metro in a journey planner);
- about 7–9 minutes from Leuvehaven or Beurs in the city centre, for our Westersingel, Jufferstraat and Binnenrotte apartments;
- about 11 minutes from Rotterdam Centraal, for our apartments in Rotterdam Noord and at Villapark.
Add the walk to your nearest station. From Brede Hilledijk, the whole trip is roughly a quarter of an hour. For exact times, use the RET, NS or 9292 journey planners.
Flying in? Ahoy notes that the Intercity Direct from Schiphol Airport to Rotterdam Centraal takes about 25 minutes, and Ahoy is about 10 minutes from Rotterdam Centraal.
Which apartment suits your congress?
- Solo delegates who want the shortest commute: Brede Hilledijk in Rotterdam-Zuid has three compact units, studios and a one-bedroom apartment, all with air-conditioning. It is also one of two locations with luggage storage before check-in or after check-out, which is handy on your last congress day.
- Delegates who want the city around them: Binnenrotte studios are next to the Markthal and Blaak station, and Westersingel is in the city centre. Westersingel also has parking on request.
- Colleagues travelling together: our two- and three-bedroom apartments at Westersingel, Jufferstraat and in Rotterdam Noord give everyone their own bedroom plus a shared living room and kitchen.
Sending a team? Options for companies and institutions
If your hospital, university, lab or company is sending several people, or exhibiting at one of the congresses, we can help with more than one apartment:
- Several apartments, one point of contact. We can house a whole team and coordinate the booking with you.
- Monthly invoicing and B2B contracts. For organisations that book regularly or for longer stays, we offer monthly invoicing and B2B contracts.
- Security deposit. Normally a separate €150–€300 deposit applies per booking. Under a B2B contract, it can be waived when the company guarantees any damage.
